Knife World guitarist/singer/comic extraordinaire, Jon Nielsen, spent his youth in the center of the universe (according to Black Elk), the Black Hills of South Dakota. His teenage job was working for his father’s tourist trap, the “Aerial Chariot”. This ski lift-type contraption carried tourists to the peak of a private mountaintop, providing shutterbug patrons a picturesque view of Mount Rushmore. A great deal of Jon’s teenage summers were spent in a hut high atop Tramway Mountain where his sessions of smoking greenery and shredding along with Slayer tapes were occasionally interrupted by occupational duties. Many of the songs on the album were inspired by this idyllic setting, therefore we chose to recreate it… IN 3D!!!

The inside spread provides another viewing experience this time taking the form of a 3D illustration. Psychedelic spirits levitate from their tombstones to welcome the viewer to a joyful graveyard display. In the distance giraffes make love, the sun rises, and a church burns while Knife World plays the soundtrack for the boisterous tumult.

Oh, and because losing stuff sucks, we didn’t include any 3D glasses, but instead, drilled two peepholes into the center label area, making one filter the red and the other blue. In other words, the record IS the glasses. Try losing those glasses!
